LinkedIn: Classy Facebook October 30, 2009

LinkedIn is the professional version of Facebook, which I think is a great idea. Facebook is fun, but it’s much more socially driven than professional. Many companies now are insisting that their employees either not use social networking sites, or limit their use. While I completely understand this, it is pretty unfair that certain people with certain jobs aren’t allowed to have social, or personal lives. At least not on the internet.

On another note, I feel very behind in the times in my knowledge of Twitter. And I don’t think it’s just me, none of my friends or people I know actively use Twitter, or even have one. I’ve come to the decision that Twitter is much more aimed at business and companies as a marketing strategy than it is for individual people. Or maybe it’s just a demographic that is slightly older than the 20-year-old.

But thanks to my amazing journalism class I’ll soon be caught up to all the new technology, and fulfill my stereotype as a young, tech-savvy student.
